FLOOR COATING INSTALLATION
 A great-looking floor starts with proper preparation. At Cobra Elite Epoxy, we don't believe in cutting corners or rushing the steps that matter most. From preparing the concrete to applying the final clear coat, we take the time to make sure your coating system is installed correctly and built to last.

Most residential projects can be completed in 1–2 days, depending on the size and condition of the concrete and the coating system being installed.

When we arrive, we'll walk through the project with you, go over the process, and answer any questions before getting started.

STEP 1 – DIAMOND GRIND & PREP THE CONCRETE
Proper surface preparation is one of the most important parts of the entire installation.
Instead of relying on acid etching or other shortcuts, Cobra Elite Epoxy mechanically prepares the concrete using professional diamond grinding equipment. Grinding removes surface contaminants and creates the proper concrete profile for the coating system to bond to.

We grind the main floor as well as the edges and other areas that larger equipment can't reach.
Once the concrete has been completely prepared, the floor is thoroughly vacuumed to remove dust and debris.

Good coatings start with good prep. We make sure the floor underneath is ready before anything goes on top of it.

STEP 2 – REPAIR CRACKS & DAMAGED AREAS
Concrete isn't always perfect—and that's okay.
After grinding, we'll inspect the floor for cracks, chips, pitting, and other damaged areas that need attention.

Cracks are properly opened and prepared before being filled with a fast-curing concrete repair material. Chips and minor surface damage are repaired as needed and then ground smooth to blend them into the surrounding concrete.

Once repairs are complete, we'll vacuum the floor again so we have a clean surface ready for coating.
Concrete can naturally move over time, so while existing cracks are repaired before installation, no coating system can guarantee that new cracks will never develop.

STEP 3 – APPLY THE BASE COAT
Now the transformation starts.
Once the floor has been completely prepared and cleaned, we mix and apply the pigmented base coat. The color is selected to complement the decorative flake blend you've chosen for your floor.

We carefully coat the floor and any agreed-upon vertical surfaces to create an even foundation for the decorative flake system.

The base coat is applied generously and evenly so the decorative flakes have a strong surface to bond to.

STEP 4 – FULL DECORATIVE FLAKE BROADCAST
While the base coat is still wet, decorative vinyl flakes are broadcast across the entire floor.
We use a full-broadcast flake system, meaning the flakes are applied heavily until the base coat is completely covered. This gives the floor its finished color and texture while helping hide minor imperfections in the concrete.

After the coating has cured enough to work on, the loose flakes are removed.
The floor is then scraped in multiple directions to knock down raised flakes and create a more uniform surface. After scraping, we thoroughly vacuum the floor again before moving on to the final step.

STEP 5 – APPLY THE CLEAR TOPCOAT
The final step is applying the clear protective topcoat.
The topcoat seals the decorative flake system and provides the durable finished surface that protects your new floor from everyday use.

We apply the coating evenly across the floor using professional application methods to achieve consistent coverage and a clean finished appearance.
Once the topcoat has been applied, we'll clean the work area, pack up our equipment, and go over the curing instructions with you.

WHEN CAN I USE MY NEW FLOOR?
Cure times can vary depending on the coating system, temperature, humidity, and conditions at the time of installation.
As a general guideline:

• Light foot traffic: approximately 12–24 hours

• Normal foot traffic: approximately 24 hours

• Moving heavier items back: approximately 48 hours

• Vehicle traffic: approximately 72–96 hours
   

We'll give you the recommended cure times for your specific floor before we leave. When in doubt, giving the coating a little extra time to cure is always better than getting on it too early.
